ARTIST SERVICES

Coaching services are focused on thought partnership, collaborative inquiry, visioning and helping to guide you toward actionable insights related to your ideas, goals and projects.

Sessions are either hourly or bundled as a package. We invite you to reach out if you are interested in co-creating a more individualized experience (Note: rates may fluctuate depending upon customized needs).

VISIONING

  • ARTIST VISIONING (Coaching Focus) $175/per hour — Do you have a big idea for your next creative project, but don't know how to begin implementing it? Do you have the passion and drive to achieve your artistic goals, but no collaborators or community to share them with? If you answered yes to either of the questions above then please know you are not alone! Many creatives look for and want support in balancing the artistic and administrative elements of their work, especially in the planning and implementation phases. An hour-long Artist Visioning session focuses on your big picture dreams for your project as we work together in an objective, caring and transparent environment to plot backwards from your end goals. The result is a draft roadmap that includes actionable plot points for your to kickstart your vision and work towards further articulating your planning and resources needs.

  • Artists can book a series of sessions for longer-term support. A package of 5 sessions and above will qualify for a 10% discount when booked up front and can be used within 6 months of purchase (on a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly basis, or any combination benefiting the individual and their goals).

STRATEGY

  • $750/package rate— Much like life, we know that creativity and artistry is never a linear journey. Some conversations don’t fit neatly into structured outlines and to-do lists will inevitably change - sometimes radically. Sometimes you need someone to plan with, hold you accountable to your long-term goals and help you articulate a strategy to get you from Point A to Point Z.

  • Session results in a long-term strategy (up to one-two years in scope) to help you accomplish your artistic and project goals. Deliverables also include a digest of notes for reference, your strategy document, a one-pager on assessing your progress moving forward, a resource list of links for learning and potential opportunities for you to consider (grants, residencies, fellowships, etc.)

DEVELOPMENT

  • APPLICATION/PROPOSAL REVIEW - $650/package rate | Appropriate for review of: grants/job/school/fellowship/residency applications. Do you need an objective set of eyes on your recently written grant application or project proposal? This service package is a three-hour engagement package of services that includes: a 60-minute pre-document review call to gain any necessary context for an informed review; review of the grant RFP (Request for Proposals) or website; at least two in-depth read-through reviews of your written materials; and a written digest of feedback (1-2 pages in length - inclusive of notes, clarifying questions and any proposed edits). A follow-up 30-minute call to review notes and suggestions. Clients needing additional time for clarifying questions or those desiring more in-depth conversation on proposal editing or development can book additional hourly blocks of time at $175 per hour. (NOTE: This service package is only for grant review, not for grant writing services).

  • GRANT WRITING - $1,200/flat fee per grant application for individual artists) Do you hate grant writing or are you not familiar with where to even start? We get it. Grant applications can be extremely time consuming, complicated and difficult processes to navigate solo - especially for first-timers. This process doesn’t have to be daunting or a nightmare - it should be an exciting and creative opportunity for you to dream and build relationships with funding partners. This package includes 3 hours of meetings to strategize, workshop language/concepts/data, and review/finalize language. Please note individuals are ultimately responsible for inputing information into specific funder portals and applications and “hitting” submit on their applications. Individuals should pay keen attention to funder timelines and deadlines. CAC typically advises artists to begin their applications as soon as the application opens or becomes available. Artists wishing to engage services within two weeks of a given grant deadline and will need to factor in a rush project fee of $500 to allow for a speedy turnaround and proper review/cushion time for submission.

CULTURAL PRODUCING

Communitas Arts + Culture also makes strategic investments in and leads the development of new interdisciplinary/intersectional creative work that aims to break barriers between traditional cultural disciplines, advance narrative change and explores various aspects of culture and the human condition through diverse perspectives.

Communitas Arts + Culture has made an intentional commitment to the practice and development of “cultural producing.” Cultural producing, for us, means moving past historical conceptions and practices of a kind of producing that privileges unchecked power, white supremacy/Euro-centric ideals, racism, colonialism, patriarchy, paternalism, inequitable extractive practices inherent to capitalism and its resulting commercial, hierarchical, transactional norms. Historically, producers - through earned and un-earned material, social and political capital - have acted as cultural trendsetters by positioning what is (and what is not) to be considered worthy of mass cultural attention, consumption and contemplation. This level of power has historically resided in the hands of very few across all sectors of society and has limited the full breadth, depth and nuance of the diverse cultural identities, narratives and lived experiences that make up the souls our communities and our country as a whole.

We take our inspirational and methodological departures for a practice of producing for equity from contemporary movements, models, thinkers and activists: from the practice of impact producing in the documentary arts to the expansion of collectives/solidarity economy movements - from calls for decolonization/curatorial justice in museum and public spaces to calls for remaining responsive to emergence as a practice (Adrienne Maree Brown) and the decolonization of wealth writ large (Edgar Villanueva and the Decolonizing Wealth Project).

We know there are better ways to do the work and are eager to collaborate with partners wishing to do the same in the world.
